How do you show the MYL pillar of volunteerism in your daily life?
I like to volunteer at my school in the fall to help the incoming freshmen feel comfortable and know their way around. I also help local groups achieve their goals by helping run events, fundraise, and organize.
How do you show the MYL pillar of leadership in your daily life?
I get involved with groups that help make our world a more equal and just place. Specifically, I organize with the Liberian Education Fund to help raise money for high school and college students in Libera to get quality education.
How would you say MYL impacted your trajectory in life? (the decisions you made, the things you did, etc.)
MYL made me realize how important it is to be accepting of others and new ideas. I personally felt so loved and accepted at MYL and I realized that with that feeling, came empowerment and confidence. Since MYL, I have worked extra hard at making everyone who crosses my path feel welcome and accepted.
What is the legacy you want to leave behind?
I want to be someone who gives people the courage to speak their mind and act on their passions.
What is your fondest memory from your MYL experience?
My fondest memory from my MYL experience is bonding with my group in our debrief session after the talent show. That was our last night together and was also a moment where I felt super accepted, loved, and hopeful.
What gives you hope?
My generation gives me hope. We are determined, resilient, and passionate people who want to make positive change.
Any fun hobbies?
I love to sing and write songs.
