Esther Pew, Board Member
Esther came to MYL as the first ambassador from Telstar High School in 2006. She loved her experience and wanted to come back - so she did - as a JC both her junior and senior year of high school and then as an AC during her first year of college. After that, she lived out of state for a few years for college and work. When she came back to Maine for graduate school, she knew that she wanted to re-engage with the organization that had impacted so much of her teenage years, so she reached out and joined the board. She has been on the board since 2016 and is very excited about the work the board has been doing.
After she graduated from Telstar High School in 2008, she attended college at Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, studying Sociology and Political Science. Esther graduated from QU in 2012 and moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and taught elementary school for three years before coming back to Maine for graduate school. Esther went to the University of Southern Maine for graduate school. She graduated with her Masters of Social Work in 2017 and her Masters of Policy, Planning, and Management in 2018. Esther is now a Community Organizer at Maine People's Alliance. She has been on staff for almost five years and really enjoys the work she is doing! In her free time, she likes to read books, watch TV, and bake/cook new recipes. Esther also donates plasma and platelets pretty regularly at the American Red Cross and enjoys going to trivia nights with friends.
