About Maggie
After graduating from high school, I attended Husson University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with double minors in Behavioral Science and Psychology in the spring of 2024. I have since begun graduate studies in Special Education at the University of Maine at Farmington. I currently work as a third-grade teacher at Indian Island School in the Bangor area of Maine.

What does MYL mean to you? Why join the board?

MYL means so much to me. It was the first time I ever felt like I had a home outside of my own. High school can be tough—there are moments when you can be surrounded by people and still feel invisible. But when I walked through the MYL doors in 2018, that completely changed. I found a place where I could be myself without judgment and where I truly felt seen and accepted. MYL helped me discover who I am and what I stand for. I honestly don’t know where I’d be today without it, but I know I wouldn’t be the same person I am now. MYL taught me how to stand up for others, how to lead, how to build community, and most importantly, how to stand up for what I believe in—even if I’m standing alone. I joined the board because I wanted to give back to the organization that changed my life for the better.
