Jason Tarr, President

Jason attended the 2003 Seminar as a Hermon Ambassador with fellow board member Josh Kane. He continued participating as JC, MC, and SF for multiple years before he joined the board in 2015 after an invitation from Jim Cox. Jason wanted to join the board to give back to the organization and be a part of ensuring its continued success.

Anya Lee, Vice President

Anya had no idea what she was getting myself into when she came to MYL as an ambassador in 2013. But the seminar left an impact on her and she returned every year. She knew she wanted to join the board but not until she was out of college and able to devote more time to it. Anya is from Lewiston and moved to Brooklyn, NY for college.

Maria Greene, Secretary

Maria went to MYL as an ambassador representing Machias Memorial High School in 2008. She loved MYL so much that she went back as a JC in 2009 and 2010 then was an AC (for one year) while she was in college! Maria got involved with the board when her employer gave a charitable donation to MYL in 2016 and she met with some of the board members when they came to pick up the check.

Bob Rondeau, Treasurer

Jason from the board indicated that MYL had need of a Treasurer and Bob volunteered to take on the role.Bob lives near St. Joe's College by Sebago Lake. After 50+ years in the workplace as a Controller for several businesses, he is pretty much retired now but does have his own accounting business (Number Concepts, LLC) and does accounting for a local web services company.

Allie Cox, Board Member

Allie was an ambassador in 2014. Her dad was a part of creating MYL from the very beginning. She listened to him talk about this organization since she was a young child. When she was a Sophomore, she was finally able to attend, it was the most amazing experience of her life. At that point she knew she wanted to be a part of MYL forever.

Danielle Brady, Board Member

Danielle was first introduced to MYL as an ambassador in 2010 for Old Town High School. She knew that from then on, MYL was going to be a part of her life forever. Danielle went back to MYL as a JC and then in 2020, decided she wanted to do more and join the Board in hopes to give back to an organization that impacted her life so much.

Emily Callahan, Board Member

Emily was an ambassador 2012, a JC and an AC following this. She was involved periodically throughout college. Emily always wanted to remain involved with MYL because it is a big part of her heart! She came home from a year-long volunteer trip and contacted Tom Renehan on how to become more involved.

Emma Brown, Board Member

Emma was first introduced as an ambassador in 2008. She later on decided to join the board because she wanted to give back to the organization that gave so much to her. Emma currently lives in South Portland and is in nursing school.

Esther Pew, Board Member

Esther came to MYL as the first ambassador from Telstar High School in 2006. She loved her experience and wanted to come back - so she did - as a JC both her junior and senior year of high school and then as an AC during her first year of college. After that, she lived out of state for a few years for college and work.

Jim Cox, Board Member

Jim Cox was the founder of Maine Youth Leadership in 1979 after meeting Hugh O’Brien. As the founder, Jim has always been on the board and a crucial member of MYL. Jim just moved from Saco to Old Orchard Beach. He grew up in Portland and went to the University of New Haven, University of Southern Maine and Husson University.

Jordan Gregory, Board Member

Jordan first started her MYL journey in 2016 as an ambassador her sophomore year of high school. She came back as a JC in 2017 and 2018 and was an AC in 2019 and 2022. She wanted to join the board to help facilitate and continue the work that had made a major impact on the way she views herself and others.

Joshua Kane, Board Member

Joshua was an ambassador of Maine Youth Leadership in 2003 with Jason Tarr. Around 3-4 years ago, Jason asked him to join the board and he hasn't looked back since! Joshua lives in Easton, Maine. He went to Hermon High School and then graduated from Thomas College.

Kathy Leighton, Board Member

Kathy joined the Board in 2002 after her son Scott graduated from the program. Kathy was driving home with her son when he said, "Mom this is an incredible organization and you would love to be apart of this organization." She filled out a survey and has not looked back since.

Nate Steele, Board Member

Nate attended MYL as an ambassador in 2015. Since then, he has been a JC and AC. Nate joined the MYL board in 2018. Joining the board for him was an easy decision due to the great experiences and relationships that he has incurred because of the organization. Nate wants to be able to help and insure that the MYL experience continues to be superb for future ambassadors.

Shawn Leger, Board Member

Shawn is a Commercial Lender/Business Banker at Machias Savings Bank, serving the Greater Portland Area. Shawn wanted to join the Board to help develop the future leaders in Maine. An avid sports coach, he feels that developing the youth of our state will ensure our success in the future.

Tracy Laverriere, Board Member

Tracy was an ambassador in 2005 from Biddeford and attended every seminar following in a staff capacity (JC, MC, AC, SF, JC Wrangler, and Co-Chair) until COVID. She wanted to join the board to continue to give back to an organization that continues to give her so much. Tracy grew up in Biddeford and attended Endicott College in Beverly, MA.

William Macomber, Board Member

William was first introduced to MYL in 2018. He believes that MYL has a proven formula with a lasting impact, and he wanted to work with others who work passionately with youth for for our future. William lives in Saco with his wife and at the moment, his youngest son who is 16. His other son and daughter are off to college.

Zoë Lewis, Board Member

Zoë was first introduced to MYL in 2019 when she moved to Maine. When she first heard about MYL, she knew this was something she wanted to be involved in, but because she didn't think she would be in Maine for more than a year, she didn't think it would be feasible. Well, Zoë decided to make Maine her home and 2 years later, Kathy Leighton mentioned to her that she was involved and told her more about the organization.
